Our story
Danceteria the Club is the monthly clubnight devoted to everything and everyone around the label, the ideology and the music of the Danceteria brand. Originally set up by Mr.A in July 2005 in the sweaty basement of club Birdie (rip), it saw a beginning of something totally fresh and new in the Helsinki club scene. Not only in its strict policy of housemusic, but also the 6hr slots Mr.A performed every Saturday, introducing some of the future tracks now signed to the label as well as music that wasn´t played anywhere else in the city.
Since June 2006, DTM, the biggest gay club in Scandinavia has been playing the role of new host to Danceteria. With singers, dancers, live-performances, drag queens (and occasional tabloid celebrities), the relationship with DTM has flourished and has proven to be a big influence in the Club’s story so far. As with the Danceteria Music Record label, the label honchos Miika Kuisma and Heikki Liimatainen have joined forces with Mr.A at the Club and are now representing and playing their part as monthly residents.
